A Word from Chief Adjudicator 2016

It is with the greatest of pleasures that I welcome you to the 2016 Heart of Europe Debating Tournament. This year promises the greatest of deals. In fact, it promises to host a range of talents diversifying from all the big continents of our world.
Heart of Europe has always catered to many different structures of life: be it race, gender, pool of many talents, and strengths of many speakers. We cater to everyone, because the talent of debating is one which is blind, as it speaks the language of change and development. As the head of the Chief Judges’ Panel, I promise to provide quality pool and system of both judging and feedback.
This year’s “HOE”, as we affectionately call it, is led by a team of people with integrity: from people with a great deal of experience in growth, to people with a great deal of experience on the cultural front as well. Heart of Europe 2016 is one which will have the greatest, funniest, thought-provoking debatable motions of all time. As the BEST CAP by far, we promise to cater to the needs of every single team and delegation, both on the front of quality training and quality judging. As I promised and delivered in 2015, I will do the same in 2016. I know that most of you were more than satisfied about the quality and impeccability of the judging and complaints process; like then, we promise to do the same this year as well.
Heart of Europe 2016 promises not only to be a “practice” tournament for those going to the Germany World Schools’ Debating Champs, but to be a custodian in the growth of every speaker – national or otherwise. We hope to become your “before-WSDC coaches”, so that you understand the diversity and breadth of debating as a whole. Remember, my Chief Judges’ Panel is led by previous national speakers, national trialists, Heart of Europe Best Speakers, coaches of other national teams, students, teachers, lawyers, etc. We are a team of knowledgeable and understanding individuals. Attending #HOEDT 2016 will be the best decision you will ever make for 2016.
